Changing course
Article Abstract:
Efforts by several U.S. states in developing high school curricula are discussed. Many states require students to take more rigorous course loads, even for those who do not plan to attend college. Experts believe that redesign efforts are needed for high schools in order to adapt to changes in the demands of the work force. The details of different development programs are also presented.

The reality of Real ID: states push for changes to federal law
Article Abstract:
The federal Real ID Act of 2005 has been rejected by six states because of its daunting implementation costs. The federal government sees that drivers' licenses can be used as a tool to combat terrorism, because it is a widely used form of identification. Other than costs, issues such as privacy and security arise from the implementation of the act.
