Environmental regulation by private contest
Article Abstract:
Government subsidy and taxation of private environmental groups and firms chosen to implement environmental regulation are addressed. A simple model is developed for disputation of regulatory decisions involving the environmental sector. These decisions involve the implementation of environmental rules and the inclusion of particular requirements for non-government regulators. The contest results are affected by cost implications which are known beforehand by the administrating firms.

Price-cap regulation and technical change
Article Abstract:
Analysis of price-cap regulation influences on cost-cutting research investment reveals that regulated and external firm responses to regulatory 'tightening' vary. The study also finds that the external developer exerts less research and development than is socially optimal with the regulated firm exerting more or less and that research by an outsider necessarily enhances welfare despite the scope for duplication of results.
