'Fight the power': The politics of music and the music of politics
Article Abstract:
The relationship between political and cultural capital is explored in order to show that study of politics can illuminate an understanding of popular music and the study of popular music can illuminate political science. The different ways through which popular music can be used as political propaganda are discussed.

The serious flooding of parts of eastern and northern Germany is considered to be an important factor for boosting the opinion poll ratings of the governing coalition parties. The factors that influenced the campaigns of the parties and the behaviour of the voters and non-voters are described.
