Political odd couples
Article Abstract:
Politicians occasionally form close personal relationships which transcend political divisions. These friendships have a positive effect in an arena which may otherwise be impersonal and antagonistic. United views on an issue may bring politicians together, as in the case of Republican Assemblywoman Barbara Alby and Democrat Sheila Kuehl. Kuehl is gay and has liberal attitudes, Alby is a conservative fundamental Christian, but they work closely together on the issue of domestic violence and have a strong personal bond. Other close personal relationships illustrate other factors which bring politicians together.
