Progressive taxes, equity, and human capital accumulation in an endogenous growth model with overlapping generations
Article Abstract:
In an endogenous economic model with overlapping generations and human capital accumulation, progressive taxation of labor incomes hurt growth in the long-run and intensify market failures associated with the intergenerational spillovers from human capital accumulation. In an open economy, however, these taxes result to savings that may improve the employment prospects of low skilled and eventually add to economic growth.

Income taxes and the timing of marital decisions
Article Abstract:
Nontraditional, nonmarket activities, including decisions on when to marry, are affected by added taxes on income associated with getting married. An analysis of household data from the Panel Study on Income Dynamics shows that marriage taxes increased the probability of delaying marriages until the next year. The effects, however, are small.
