Senate District 16
Article Abstract:
Republican Assemblyman Phil Wyman makes his bid for the 16th Senate District after losing to Bud McKeon in the Congressional primaries. The current 16th District territory makes it a Republican stronghold but the implementation of the 1991 reapportionment will give Democrats an advantage in the area. Wyman will face five other Republicans and five Democrats but analysts say that he may have a chance because of his wealth and his shrewdnessabout handling special elections.

California's film industry beats the recession

California's film industry is one of the biggest contributors to the growth of the state's economy. The industry continued its solid growth record even during the recession. The industry's strong growth canpartially be credited to the policies of the California state government towards the industry. The state government established the California Film Commission in 1985 to help the industry in its efforts to attract film makers to the state.
