The impact of a nonlinear income tax on the supply of roundwood in Sweden: apolicy evaluation experiment based on cross-section data
Article Abstract:
An analysis of nonlinear income taxation is presented. The analysis focuses on the application of such a tax onthe supply of roundwood and applies cross-section data from Sweden. Roundwood supply is generated by a two-period utility maximization setting which is conditioned by forest production and a nonlinear budget constraint. It is shownthat tax consequences can be measured in terms of behavioral response and excess burden.

Transboundary environmental problems are examined in the context of an optimal tax model in order to compare the globally optimal policy of a cooperative equilibrium with the policy implicit in a noncooperative equilibrium. Three reasons for commodity tax difference are mentioned.
