The supply of mortgage lending
Article Abstract:
The availability of mortgage funds, a statistical study indicates, is relatively elastic, has been for some time, and has been tied to other investment markets longer and more strongly than is usually thought. Interest rate changes affect the source of mortgage money more than the amount. However, the rise and fall of interest rates do appear to be major influences on housing starts.
