Will the Cure Cost More than the Cold?
Article Abstract:
The Defense Department is routinely criticized for its spending practices. The weapons industry believes it must try to do more to educate the public about the problems with supply and development. The very size of the Department of Defense (DOD) budget and staff makes it difficult to handle when representing its problems to the press. The basic problem in acquiring spare parts lies in the inefficient and uneconomical way spare parts are acquired. The objective in the DOD is always on maintaining the readiness of the United States military equipment. The DOD has not encouraged competition among vendors in the past. The DOD is very badly organized right now, but hopes to introduce measures to be more efficient and effective.
