Capitation creates a unique set of data needs
Article Abstract:
A hospital needs claims experience with the managed care plan and physician utilization information to be successful at capitation. The claims experience provides a standard to determine a hospital's performance under a capitated contract. The utilization information helps the hospital determine if the participating physician group is financially sound.
