Effects specialty hospitals on the financial performance of general hospitals, 1997-2004
Article Abstract:
Specialty hospitals are considered to be harmful for general hospitals in terms of financial performance because of decreased market share. However, it was found that new specialty hospitals have not only helped increase efficiency in general hospitals, but also have negative impacts on their operating costs. The competition between specialty and general hospitals is further analyzed.
