Congregate care facility selection: a conjoint approach
Article Abstract:
The conjoint approach was used to determine the attributes that children or relatives of elderly patients look for when choosing a congregate care facility. Conjoint analysis requires evaluation of sets of attributes, instead of individual characteristics, in determining preferences. It was found that a pleasant and caring staff is the most important attribute of a congregate care facility for children or relatives of elderly patients. Location is the second most important feature, followed by quality of nursing care. Cost was not an important consideration in the choice of congregate care facilities for parents or other elderly relatives.

A strategic approach to service quality: a field study in a rural health care setting
Article Abstract:
A health clinic in Johnson County, TN is used as a subject in a study to determine the factors affecting customer service quality. The results indicate that the quality of health care is superior than health care availability. Cultural factors should be considered in providing quality services. Rural health service organizations must adopt a customer focused program using the total quality management philosophy.
