Global Pharmaceutical Industry sales growth, forecasts and trends, drug costs and pricing etc., have been described. The various stages for drug starting from laboratory to acceptance of drug by FDA in the United States, grant of patent and its subsequent expiry, entry of generic drugs etc., have also been described. Government's investments in research and development of medicines, its expenditure in health care sectors and general determinants to be used while assessing a pharmaceutical company have been provided.

Industry profile: global drug sales moderating
Article Abstract:
An analysis on the performance by various countries in terms of their pharmaceutical industry is presented for the year 2004 is presented. While North America ranked on the top position grabbing a share of 53%, United States was at the second position. A statistical discussion on the financial and sales performance of various United States companies is also presented. The forecast for the near future seems to become slow in terms of the industry's growth.
