Because upwards of 30 percent of newly infected HIV patients have strains resistant to current treatments, new urgency exists for gene therapy research is underway at Oxford Biomedica, Enzo Biochem, GenStar Therapeutics, Cell Genesys, Vical, American Home Products, Gene Shears, VIRxSYS, Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, and Temple University in Philadelphia.
