Article Abstract:
A historical perspective of advances that have taken place over the years in medical surgeries and products is discussed. While some companies manufacture sophisticated hi-tech products specific for diagnostics and therapeutics purpose, others produce conventional hospital supply products such as syringes, gauze which have bigger market share. The medical equipment industry has been able to come up with new innovative products due to federal support that it receives and successes in research and developments it undertakes. The federal government has come up with several regulations for the industry, such as the Medical Device User Free and Modernization Act of 2002, etc. The industry also has shown growth in manufacturing products for foreign countries that are very concerned about the quality of health care.
