Did the Medicaid expansions for children displace private insurance? An analysis using the SIPP
Article Abstract:
A 23% increase in the Medicaid coverage of children after changes made during the early 1990s was due to families selecting this coverage because they were eligible for it but would have been covered by private insurance if the rules had not changed. This result shows that private insurance was not displaced by Medicaid.
