MD training key factor in prevention
Article Abstract:
Preventative medicine, which is crucial to improving people's health, would be facilitated by increasing the proportion of primary care physicians to specialists, according to speakers at the 1992 National Health Management Conference in Chicago, IL. While specialists work on specific problems, primary care physicians can consider many factors influencing an individual's overall health. Fifty percent of all physicians should specialize in primary care by the end of the 1990s, and preventative medicine and community health should receive greater emphasis in medical education.
