Mercy Health System of Janesville, WI, hired Topin & Associates (Chicago) to market its arrival in northern Illinois. Mercy wanted to differentiate itself from another Mercy center which was established in Chicago. The advertising agency delivered the message to the Harvard, Crystal Lake, and Woodstock communities of Illinois. It relied on outdoor, radio, and newspaper media for this purpose. The integrated health system has 18 ambulatory and diagnostic medical centers. It also runs a 240-bed hospital. In addition, it maintains extensive addiction and mental health treatment services.

Portsmouth Regional Hospital and Pavilion of Portsmouth, NH, hired G.M. Filias Advertising Inc. of Portsmouth, NH, to produce a media campaign. The acute-care and psychiatric treatment hospital wanted to educate the public about heart attack symptoms. G.M. Filias selected outdoor, radio, and newspaper media as conduits for the message from the hospital's Chest Pain Center. The campaign emphasized that 300,000 people suffering from heart attacks attempted to self-medicate themselves in 1997. These people often thought that they were experiencing indigestion or heartburn.
