Ownership form and consumer welfare: evidence from the nursing home industry
Article Abstract:
National estimates showed that 27% of nursing homes in the United States are organized on a not-for-profit basis, while 7% accounts for public nursing homes, and 66% are private for-profit facilities. The effects of ownership status on the quality of care rendered by the nursing facility are discussed.
