Parental invovlement laws and fertility behavior
Article Abstract:
The state-level data over the 1985-1996 period, used to examine abortion, birth and pregnancy, has shown that an increased parental involvement results in decreased amount of abortions and pregnancies among minors. Micro-data from the 1988-1995 National Surveys of Family Growth (NSFG) on sexual activity and contraception, has shown that reduced pregnancies are a result of increased use of contraception rather than a decrease in sexual activity.

The effect of Medicaid abortion funding restrictions on abortions, pregnancies and births
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the effect of state Medicaid abortion funding restrictions on the likelihood of getting pregnant, having an abortion and bearing a child. Traditional multivariate models with alternative fixed effect specifications were used. An analysis of 12 years of state-level data suggests that restrictions are linked with a reduction in abortions and either no change or a reduction in births, suggesting fewer pregnancies.

Maternal employment and overweight children
Article Abstract:
Mother-child data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth (NLSY) and employ econometric techniques are used to control observable and unobservable differences across individuals and families that may influence both children's weight and their mother's work patterns. A child is more likely to be overweight if his/her mother works more hours per week over the child's life.
