Promoting wellness by delaying age of cardiovascular disease onset: development of a model
Article Abstract:
A study designed to determine if certain risk factors influenced the age at which cardiovascular disease (CVD) begins concluded that wellness models should emphasize the relationship between body mass index, smoking, and blood pressure. Early modification of high risk behaviors may inhibit the development of CVD causing agents. CVD prevention is most successful when physical and behavioral risk factors are managed simultaneously and before onset of serious symptoms.

Mind-body fitness: encouraging prospects for primary and secondary prevention
Article Abstract:
Mind-body exercise such as yoga, meditation, and tai-chi can successfully enhance wellness promotion programs for cardiac rehabilitation patients. An emphasis on the relationship between mental energy and the physical being can offer the patients greater understanding of their bodies and a sense of control over aspects of their health. Meditation and related exercises also help reduce anxiety, neuroticism, and high blood pressure.
