The choice of medical providers in rural Benin: a comparison of discrete choice models
Article Abstract:
An analysis of three alternative models of health provider selection using data from Benin in Africa shows divergent elasticities of demand. The three models are the multinomial logit specification, which is the most commonly used model, the multinomial probit and the independent multinomial probit. The third model provides more intensive findings although it is surprisingly not as popular as the other two despite the fact that it is as easy to use as the others.
