A 43-year-old man with multifocal neurologic problems and confusion
Article Abstract:
A 43-year-old man with leg pain and numbness, incontinence, and confusion was found to have intravascular lymphomatosis involving the nervous system. Intravascular lymphomatosis is a cancer in which lymph cells multiply, collect, and block small blood vessels, causing damage to the surrounding tissue. The patient had a long history of intermittent neurologic symptoms beginning sixteen years earlier, including numbness, weakness, and pain in his left leg and foot, and numbness in his scrotum, penis, and anus. Various magnetic resonance imaging scans and CT scans showed many vertebral disks protruding against the spinal cord and an abnormal area in the parietal lobe of the brain. A biopsy of this abnormal region was taken and found to contain lymphoid cells collected in blood vessels. Prednisone, dexamethasone, and methotrexate were administered. Two months later he returned to the hospital with increased confusion, Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, and a blood infection and he died.

An 81-year-old man with progressive disorientation, repeated falls, and a fluctuating mental state
Article Abstract:
An 81-year-old man was admitted to a hospital because of disorientation and confusion. CT and MRI scans revealed small abnormalities in his brain. Because his confusion was not constant, his doctors believed he had an inflammation of blood vessels in his brain. A brain biopsy revealed intravascular lymphomatosis, which is a malignant disorder of B lymphocytes that fills blood vessels. This cuts off the blood supply to various organs and could cause small strokes if it occurs in the brain. He was treated with chemotherapy but eventually died.

Article Abstract:
A case of a 34-year-old patient is discussed who was admitted to the hospital because of a seizure and a lesion in the frontal lobe of the brain. This patient had a history of sleep apnea for which he used continuous-positive-airway-pressure (CAP) machine at night.
