A pilot study of cyclosporine for the prevention of postsurgical adhesion formation in rats
Article Abstract:
Use of cyclosporine, an immune system suppressant, may not prevent adhesions from forming after surgery on the uterus. The formation of adhesions after uterine surgery may lead to infertility and other complications. Cyclosporine is used after kidney transplant surgery to prevent postsurgical adhesions. Researchers performed surgery on 32 rats to see if cyclosporine would prevent uterine adhesions from forming after surgery. Adhesions formed in 75% of the rats after surgery. Although cyclosporine did not prevent adhesions, other drugs that may prevent adhesions after surgery are ilioprost, calcium-channel blockers, and tissue plasminogen activator.

The detection of diminished ovarian reserve in infertile women
Article Abstract:
Blood levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and the clomiphene citrate test are the best ways to identify women with failing ovaries. Elevated blood levels of FSH on the third day of the menstrual cycle is an effective screening tool. The clomiphene citrate test consists of measuring FSH on day three and again on day 10 after the woman has taken the drug clomiphene citrate for five days. All infertile women should be screened with these two tests. Pregnancy is still possible even if a women tests positive.

Triplets: outcomes of expectant management versus multifetal reduction for 127 pregnancies
Article Abstract:
Most women pregnant with triplets probably do not need multifetal reduction, according to a study of 127 women. Multifetal reduction is used in multiple pregnancies to eliminate one or more fetuses so the remaining fetuses will be more likely to survive.
