The use of acute hemodilution in parturients undergoing cesarean section
Article Abstract:
Acute hemodilution may be an effective means of giving pregnant women blood transfusions after a cesarean section. This technique involves taking blood from the woman while at the same time giving her intravenous fluids. This dilutes her blood so she will lose fewer red blood cells during the operation. After the operation, the blood collected before surgery is transfused back. This eliminates the need for a blood donor and reduces the risk of blood-borne diseases. The technique was used in 38 pregnant women undergoing a cesarean with good results.

Intergenerational gamete donation: ethical and societal implications
Article Abstract:
The moral and ethical implications of intergenerational egg or sperm donation are complicated and need to be carefully considered. Intergenerational egg or sperm donation occurs when a family member in a generation different from the one affected by infertility agrees to donate an egg or sperm. Cases of daughter-to-mother, niece-to-aunt and father-to-son donation are described. Other organ donations are permitted among different generations, but the intergenerational donation of eggs and sperm could alter family relationships.
