Act now as medical liability reform gains momentum
Article Abstract:
The issue of medical liability reform that has set a reasonable limit of $250,000 on noneconomic damages is gaining acceptance. It is stated that the states not accepting this rule on noneconomic damages are facing crisis, as the high liability insurance premiums forces physicians to restrict their practices either by retiring early or relocating to states with affordable premiums.

PDUFA reauthorization: Drug safety's golden moment of opportunity?

Poor fund availability for postapproval surveillance of drug safety can be corrected according to Institute of Medicine (IOM) report when Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) comes up for reauthorization in 2007. More percentage of user fees can be allocated for postapproval monitoring of drug safety to prevent drug safety disasters.
