Acute bronchitis in adults: commonly diagnosed but poorly defined
Article Abstract:
Little appears to be known conclusively about bronchitis in adults even though primary care providers frequently identify it in their patients. Research indicates that albuterol may be effective in patients with bronchitis. Most bronchitis infections are likely caused by viruses. However, antibiotics are the medication given to affected patients most frequently, medications useful only against microorganisms. Antibiotic treatment has not been shown to be an effective treatment for bronchitis.

Hypothesis: vascular compromise is the central pathogenic mechanism for acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis
Article Abstract:
The pattern of progression of acute pancreatitis is critical to understanding its pathogenesis. Three theories have been proposed to explain the progression of the disease: pancreatic fat necrosis; activation of enzyme and autodigestion; and, vascular insufficiency leading to acinar ischemic necrosis. Of the three, vascular insufficiency provides the most plausible explanation. The underlying concepts behind these three theories are presented and discussed.
