Intracranial fetus-in-fetu
Article Abstract:
Ultrasound examination may detect the presence of a fetus-in-fetu pregnancy. Fetus-in-fetu is a very rare tumor caused by abnormal fetal development where parts of one fetus are found inside its twin. A 24-year-old woman underwent ultrasound examination at 24 weeks of pregnancy because she noticed decreased fetal movements for several days. Ultrasound revealed one fetus with a huge head containing abnormal structures. The fetus was delivered and an autopsy revealed a very large tumor inside the head that contained fetal limbs. Fetus-in-fetu may be difficult to distinguish from teratoma.

Nasal bone assessment in prenatal screening for trisomy 21

The potential value of assessment of the fetal nasal bone in screening for trisomy 21 is discussed. The data has indicated that absence or hypoplasia of the nasal bone is strongly associated with trisomy 21.
