Antiviral therapy for HIV patients with renal insufficiency
Article Abstract:
The authors remind that many HIV patients have kidney problems, and that many drugs for HIV treatment pass through the kidneys unchanged, and may cause problems. They discuss which drugs and dosages can be used by kidney-insufficient patients, and which drugs, such as foscarnet, cidofovir, adefovir, acyclovir, and indinavir are either directly toxic to the kidneys, or capable of causing some damage.

A novel recombinant marker virus assay for comparing the relative fitness of HIV-1 reverse ranscriptase variants
Article Abstract:
Researchers have developed an assay that can determine whether HIV has a mutation to one or more AIDS drugs. This assay uses real-time PCR and may be faster and easier than other assays.
