Assessing and recording a patient's sexual history
Article Abstract:
An important factor in identifying and managing a patient's sexual health needs is ascertaining client's sexual history. An overview of the process and principles of taking a comprehensive history to assess risk regarding sexually transmitted infections and HIV, which can be applied and adapted to all health care settings is presented.

Results of the 'Releasing Time to Care: Productive Ward survey' show that most nurses spend less than half of their time on direct patient care which leaves them feeling deflated, powerless and unappreciated. This frustration also has an adverse effect on their job satisfaction and patient care.
