Assessing dental anxiety, dental care use and oral status in older adults
Article Abstract:
Older people may suffer from anxiety when visiting a dentist and this could prevent them from seeing a dentist regularly. Researchers surveyed 548 people 65 years or older and measured their degree of dental anxiety using the Corah Dental Anxiety Scale. Overall, 14% scored high on dental anxiety. Thirty-nine percent had not visited a dentist in 18 months and 22% had not visited a dentist in 3 years. Those with high dental anxiety were twice as likely to avoid visiting a dentist as those with low anxiety. Those with high anxiety were almost three times as likely to have dental problems.

Blood pressure outcomes of dental patients screened chronobiologically: a seven-year follow-up
Article Abstract:
A single blood pressure reading in a doctor's office may not be an accurate determination of a person's blood pressure. Blood pressure varies throughout the day, so a home blood pressure monitor may be more effective in determining the natural variation in blood pressure.
