Neuropathic pain and its co-morbidities can be detrimental to a patient's quality of life, affecting both physical and psychological well-being. Neuropathic pain results from damage to either the peripheral or central nervous system and the pain can be devastating for patients who experience it and frustrating for the healthcare professionals attempting to treat it.

Effects of failing to believe patients' experiences of pain
Article Abstract:
A study to explore the effects of healthcare professionals failing to believe that their patients are in chronic pain is presented. Findings indicate that a lack of belief in the patientEs pain further compounds the patientEs pain by raising negative emotions while a belief leads to relief and gratitude.
