Computer-based patient records - hype versus reality
Article Abstract:
The first use for electronic data systems in the hospital has been the accounting department but nurses will find them very useful as well. The managed care environment demands that such systems use terminology understandable by all end users. Systems must also be confidential, allow for data linkage, maintain continuous data access and links to other clinical resources.

The medical industry has seen many advances in intravenous pharmaceuticals and delivery systems. Innovations in pump technologies for I.V. use have facilitated disease control and ambulatory patient care and treatment. The disposable elastomeric pump is especially suited for ambulatory patients and is basically easy to use and maintain.
