Battlefield uranium doubts linger for troops
Article Abstract:
Many scientists believe that a brief exposure to depleted uranium shells will not have any serious health consequences. Others have begun to measure exactly how much uranium is released when uranium-tipped ammunition hits its target. This is the only way to determine how much uranium dust soldiers are exposed to. Uranium is used on the tips of bullets and missiles to make them penetrate armor.

Cause of progeria's premature aging found: expected to provide insight into normal aging process
Article Abstract:
A defect in the LMNA gene has been linked to a medical condition called progeria. This gene produces proteins called lamin A and lamin C, which are components of the cell nucleus membrane. Children born with progeria age much more quickly than normal. The mutation appears to occur during sperm formation.
