Cardiac monitoring: Part 3--External pacing
Article Abstract:
The commonly used technique of cardiac pacing employs the delivery of a small electric current to the heart to facilitate myocardial contraction, and can be easily established during any cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). It is seen that the external pacing technique is extremely beneficial, as it is simple to implement and also provides enough time for a spontaneous recovery of the conduction system for a better and definitive treatment.

Cricoid pressure
Article Abstract:
Cricoid pressure prevents the passive regurgitation and aspiration of gastric contents during bag-mask ventilation and attempted tracheal intubation. The complications of cricoid pressure include retching and death from aspiration and ruptured oesophagus, difficult tracheal intubation, difficult ventilation and aggravation of an existing cervical spine injury.
