Case 31-2006: A 15-year-old girl with severe obesity
Article Abstract:
A case study of fifteen-year-old girl in the outpatient Weight Center of the hospital for the evaluation of severe obesity showing normal gestation without complications is presented. The patient is an appropriate candidate for bariatric surgery and her weight and coexisting illnesses were appropriate indications according to criteria for both adults and adolescents.

Obesity and diabetes in the developing world - A growing challenge
Article Abstract:
The growing prevalence of overweight and obesity, particularly in the developing world, is leading to an increase in cases of diabetes and hypertension, which in turn, are the major predisposing factors for cardiovascular disease. Diabetes is rapidly emerging as a global health care problem that could reach pandemic proportions by 2030.
