Characteristics of oral cancer in a central European population: defining the dentist's role
Article Abstract:
Dentists can play a more active role in detecting mouth cancer by examining all of their patients closely. They can also advise their smoking patients to stop smoking and help all patients adopt a healthy lifestyle. In a study of 1,761 patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, 40% had first been treated by a dentist.

A survey of the current approaches to diagnosis and management of oral premalignant lesions
Article Abstract:
Better prognosis and treatment with less aggressive methods arise when oral premalignant lesions (OPLs) and oral squamous cell carcinoma are diagnosed early. A study of current practices in diagnosis of OPLs among members of the American Board of Oral Medicine is presented. The survey results given can provide guidelines for oral practitioners.
