Elevated cholesterol levels put people at risk for health problems such as heart attacks, stroke and impotence. However, cholesterol levels can be lowered through a low-fat, low-cholesterol, high-fiber diet and regular exercise. Cholesterol-lowering drugs can also be taken as a last resort.
