Issues in AIDS training for substance abuse workers
Article Abstract:
The increasing number of AIDS cases among intravenous drug abusers demonstrates the need for the thorough and systematic training of substance abuse workers on the treatment of drug-addicted AIDS patients. Few states have set up such training programs despite the report that 32.5% of all AIDS cases in 1990 involved drug abuse. Initiating a successful program requires five steps: assessment and information gathering, developing a curriculum, training teachers, deciding how to deliver the training and evaluation by trainees to provide feedback for refining the program.

Dimensions of adolescent drug-avoidant attitude
Article Abstract:
The underlying components of attitude related to adolescent drug and alcohol use and abuse are assessed through factor analysis. Results showed that peer attitude, alcohol-avoidant attitude, drug-avoidant attitude, performance attitude, image enhancement attitude and perceived parental attitude were correlated with drug experimentation and frequency of drug use. Drug- and alcohol-avoidant attitudesare outcomes of the attitude formation process while the four other factors influence the formation of internalized attitudes.
