Congenital cardiac rhabdomyoma
Article Abstract:
Rhabdomyomas can be asymptomatic but may be fatal when they interfere with the electrical activity of the heart. Rhabdomyomas are benign tumors of heart muscle tissue in children. An infant delivered at 35 weeks' gestation because of a lack of fetal movement had a slow heart rate, and died 12 hours later. An echocardiogram of the heart before death showed a bright echo, indicating a rhabdomyoma. An autopsy revealed a small mass off of the heart muscle, also indicating rhabdomyoma. Usually, rhabdomyomas can be monitored without surgery as they regress on their own.

Snake venom, feritilization and neurogenesis
Article Abstract:
A new type of neurogenic cell mutation, called kuzbanian (kuz), has been shown to promote as well as inhibit neural-cell development or neurogenesis. Neurogenesis is commonly visualized as consisting of two steps. The first step involves the specification of cell clusters with neural potentials by proneural genes. The second step involves cell-cell interactions within the clusters that narrow down neural potential to just one cell. In Drosophila, kuz has the effect of producing clusters of sensory bristles where there should have been just a single bristle.
