Continuing high prevalence of HIV and risk behaviors among young men who have sex with men: the Young Men's Survey in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1992 to 1993 and in 1994 to 1995
Article Abstract:
Intervention programs are still needed for gay men in the San Francisco Bay Area. Researchers surveyed 675 gay men between 17 and 22 years of age between 1994 and 1995. Seven percent were HIV-positive, compared to 8% in a similar survey done in 1992-1993. In the previous six months, 23% had had unprotected receptive anal intercourse, 8% had used intravenous drugs, and 56% of the drug users had shared needles. These statistics were also similar to the 1992-1993 statistics.
