Contradicted and initially stronger effects in highly cited clinical research
Article Abstract:
The study aims to understand how frequently highly cited studies are contradicted or find effects that are stronger than in other similar studies and to discern whether specific characteristics are associated with such refutation over time. The results revealed that contradiction and initially stronger effects are not unusual in highly cited research of clinical interventions and their outcomes.

Differential genetic effects of ESR1 gene polymorphisms on osteoporosis outcomes
Article Abstract:
Osteoporosis is a common disease characterized by reduced bone mass and an increased risk of fracture and estrogen receptor alpha (ESR1) is a candidate gene for osteoporosis. The value of adequately powered studies with standardized genotyping and clinical outcomes in defining effects of common genetic variants on complex diseases is demonstrated.

Persistence of contradicted claims in the literature
Article Abstract:
A study to examine the change in content over time for 2 highly cited epidemiological studies proposing major cardiovascular benefits with the intake of vitamin E despite contradicting evidence from trials is presented. Results confirm the hypothesis of support for highly cited studies despite contradictory evidence.
