Article Abstract:
A nurse and her former patient were recently reunited after her patient had been in remission from leukaemia for five years. The nurse describes how she first met her patient and how frightened she was. She recounts how she nursed her through her bone marrow transplant. The patient describes how her nurse was a pillar of strength during her illness, particularly when after being in remission for a while, she had a relapse and had to return to hospital.

A positive way to play the system
Article Abstract:
UK black and ethnic minority nurses are being encouraged to aim for management posts through the establishment of mentoring schemes. Three schemes have been rung, with 50% of participants going on to get job promotions. The scheme teams up a training minority nurse with mentor, though the majority of mentors are so far white, proving how few black people get into management positions within the National Health Service.
