Dangerous liaison
Article Abstract:
The development of a close relationship between teenage cancer patient and nurse does not always have a positive outcome as the emotional immaturity of teenagers often allows them to become overly dependent on individual nurses. Young nursing staff may feel they have a greater understanding of the issues facing teenage cancer patients, although too much involvement may lead to objectivity being lost. Staff need to be supported by a multidisciplinary team which allows them to explore the complex issues surrounding teenage cancer.

Love grows
Article Abstract:
Parents should not feel guilty if love for a new-born baby is not spontaneous. Bonding may take time to develop as parents are rarely realistically prepared for birth. It has a profound effect on the parents' lifestyle and exhaustion may hinder coping. Loving actions are sufficient initially. Love will develop through shared experiences.
