Dermatology: the forgotten subject?
Article Abstract:
Most UK nurses receive very little training in dermatology, even though skin diseases are extremely common. Most admit that they experience problems with giving advice to people with skin conditions. It is vital that more dermatology training is made available to nurses, both at pre- and post-registration level, thus ensuring that they feel more confident about dealing with skin conditions. Training and advice can be received from organizations including the National Eczema Society and the Acne Support Group.

Growing treatments
Article Abstract:
Nurses can help patients suffering from fungal infections on the skin by encouraging them to take several precautions against re-infection, such as regular washing with mild soap and water and the wearing of cotton clothing which is loose fitting. Fungal infections can settle on any part of the body, causing itching, inflammation, dry skin and general embarrassment to the sufferer. There are several treatments on the market which can be either bought over the counter or prescribed by a doctor.
