Design and construction of an experimental HIV-1 vaccine for a year-2000 clinical trial in Kenya
Article Abstract:
This article describes the developmental strategy of an effective HIV vaccine for use in Kenya geared to elicit cell-mediated immune responses. The vaccine has two components, a DNA vector and a modified vaccinia virus Ankara, which together express a common 'chimeric' protein of the HIV genome.

Is an HIV vaccine possible?
Article Abstract:
Whether an HIV vaccine is or is not a possibility is discussed, with the conclusion that promising findings have been seen in recent studies. Novel vaccines that bring on cellular immunity have been found to able to protect macaques from infection with simian immunodeficiency virus. The search for an HIV vaccine is going toward the CD8(super.+) cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) response.
