Cofactors for HIV disease progression in a cohort of homosexual and bisexual men
Article Abstract:
Recreational drug use and receptive anal intercourse appear to increase HIV disease progression in gay and bisexual men, according to a study of 370 men. These men were followed for up to 18 years and the time of HIV seroconversion was known in every case.

Determinants of enrollment in a preventive HIV vaccine trial: hypothetical versus actual willingness and barriers to participation
Article Abstract:
A comparison is made between the hypothetical and actual willingness of a participant to enroll in a preventive HIV vaccine trial, and the factors affecting the enrollment are studied. The barriers for enrollment that was experienced by the racial ethnic groups and African Americans consisted of their concerns regarding vaccine induced seropositivity and their mistrust of the safety measures.

Combination antiretroviral therapy and incidence of AIDS-related malignancies
Article Abstract:
The authors analyzed trends of relationship between combination antiretroviral therapy and AIDS-related cancers at a San Francisco clinic where they had access to dates of first HIV positive tests of patients. Between 1993 and 1996, the incidence of Kaposi's sarcoma dropped from 3.5/100 person-years to 0.0/100 person-years, but incidence of lymphoma remained at its ongiong rate.
