Determining if shared leadership is being practiced: evaluation methodology
Article Abstract:
Cognitive information-processing structure, mental models, can be used to assess organizational management change to shared leadership (SL). A study to describe the mental models of critical care nurses after the implementation of an SL management model showed that availability of key partners in patient care should be assessed. Participants handle patient care situations similarly, based on similar training and education. Mental models seem to be formed spontaneously and stored models retrieved as events come up. Empowerment, of the three evaluated SL concepts, seemed to be practiced most.

Nursing journalism leadership
Article Abstract:
Nurse editors are the holders of nursing journalism leadership and are the primary gatekeepers of nursing knowledge according to Suzanne Smith Blancett, EdD, RN, FAAN, editor in chief of The Journal of Nursing Administration and Nurse Educator and a member of the adjunct faculty, University of South Florida College of Nursing. Nurse editors make up fewer than 1% of all RNs, but by their activities support or change the status quo, advance or discourage professional change, and decide what others can read. She sees the future editorial role most influenced by technology.
