Dietary habits among patients with atopic dermatitis
Article Abstract:
Food and nutrient intake in a group of adult patients with moderate or severe atopic dermatitis was evaluated, and compared to that of age- and sex-matched reference groups. The aim was to determine if nutrient intake, particularly the very long-chain n-3 fatty acids and vitamin D was lower. The patient's diets were found to be similar to the reference groups although intake of vitamin D and very long-chain n-3 fatty acids was particularly low amongst female patients.

Intake of very-long-chain n-3 fatty acids related to social status and lifestyle
Article Abstract:
Very-long-chain n-3 fatty acids are important nutrients, the main sources of which are sea fish and oils, but little is known about their intake in randomized population samples. A new study tests the theories associated with intake of very-long-chain n-3 fatty acids. It is shown that very-long-chain n-3 fatty acid intake has a mutual relationship with healthy dietary habits but there is no significant correlation with non-smoking or with female gender.

Malignant epithelial tumours in the upper digestive tract: a dietary and socio-medical case-control and survival study
Article Abstract:
The effects of diet, social and environmental factors on the development of malignant epithelial tumors in the upper digestive tract and the prognosis of cancer patients are studied. Results show that smoking, alcohol intake and low social status increased the risk of cancer and the odds ratio (OR) for morbidity. Fruits and vegetables reduced cancer risk while vitamin C and beta-carotene intakes reduced OR for cancer.
