Dietary intake among Norwegian adolescents
Article Abstract:
A study of 1564 Norwegian students for dietary patterns and their relationship with other lifestyle factors using a self-administered quantitative food frequency questionnaire revealed an average energy intake of 9.9 and 15.8 MJ in girls and boys respectively with 11.4% of the energy contributed by sugar and 31% by fat. The boys had lesser nutrient density and higher fat energy proportion than the girls and general diet was composed of more milk, soft drinks and sweets than fish and vegetables as compared to adults. A healthy diet was linked to a healthy lifestyle.

Accuracy of a quantitative food frequency questionnaire applied in elderly Norwegian women
Article Abstract:
Research confirmed the accuracy, validity and reproducibility of a newly developed food frequency questionnaire. The instrument, with the use of multiple weighed diet records, assessed the food intake and consumption habits of Norwegian adults. Findings show that the food questionnaire is an effective tool in evaluating individual and group intakes of a variety of nutrients for future epidemiological studies of diet and health. However, results also indicate the need for future examination of the questionnaire in the younger age group.

Evaluation of a quantitative food frequency questionnaire used in a group of Norwegian adolescents
Article Abstract:
Analysis of 103 Norwegian 11th grade students to examine the feasibility of a 190-item self-taken quantitative food frequency questionnaire using the statistical program StatView shows that the questionnaire is able to assess subjects suitably depending on the intake of nutrients, except for vitamin D and fiber. The method is inexpensive and useful in epidemiological studies of adolescents for identifying changes in dietary pattern with time.
